Making a Pleasurable Choice
How do you feel? Have you decided that you want to be happy?
Do you like each day that you are given to live? Are you having a good time in the here and now?
In that case, why not?
Wouldn’t it be amazing if, upon opening your eyes each morning, you were filled with an attitude of thankfulness for the chance to make the most of your life today? What emotions would that evoke? How would that manifest itself in your life? I’m curious how it might sound.
All of that is within your reach, and you may start experiencing it as soon as today.
Have I earned your trust? At the very least, something within you wants to accept these claims as accurate.
For the first two decades of my adult life and for the better part of my formative years as a youngster, I was under the false impression that I had to shape my actions around the expectations of others. I had no choice but to conform to the mold set for me by my upbringing (family, community, institution, etc.).
It went something like this: obtain an education, find a solid career, put your nose to the grindstone, save money, delay gratification, and, perhaps, enjoy your golden years.
Does this remind you of something?
It seemed to be going well for me, at least in this instance. I was in a “good job,” making a decent salary, and generally happy with my life. That was how it seemed from the outside, however.
The truth is that I was miserable on the inside. There I was, mired in the grind of everyday existence, consciously or not, deciding to make it difficult for myself. I was slogging through the day like a zombie. My life at the time was anything but the life of my dreams or the life I adore.
Until finally, one day, I made the conscious decision to stop. For some reason, I decided to get up.
One day I realized I had had enough and decided to end my participation. I decided to change my life and get off the hamster wheel. I choose to alter my course of action. I decided to start directing my destiny.
The result was like magic. A burden of a thousand pounds was taken off my back. The relief I felt was immense. Being alive was an incredible sensation. My spirit was lifted. I finally started to appreciate my existence.
As a result, I’m here to tell you that you can start living the life you want – the life you love – today.
Because the only thing that’s required is a choice on your part.
Oh, I realize how elementary that sounds. Still, you have to admit that there is some truth to it.
When you make that decision – even if it’s just in your head – everything shifts. When you shift your point of view, everything goes with it.
For me, making that choice resulted in some very concrete acts. My wife, Michelle, and I decided to start our own business, so I resigned from my previous position. Apart from faith, I had no idea how we would pay the bills or provide for the children’s basic needs. Now that I think about it, I should have known.
As it turns out, everything is perfect. There was no meteor shower. It turned out that the end of the world didn’t happen. Things have changed, no doubt about it. We no longer frequently associate with the same group of folks. We no longer schedule our activities around my work schedule but prioritize time with loved ones. Our daily routines are a lot less hectic now. It’s more enjoyable for us. Every day is a good day for us.
Where do you stand? The question is, “What do you adore?” At this moment, what would you most like to be doing? Is there a call you can’t ignore?
Listen to them and do as they say if you can. One thing is sure: you don’t have to fight for what you want in life. Whatever you give credence to becomes so. The law of attraction is the most fundamental principle in the cosmos.
The first step is to let go of the idea that you need to do things differently or are somehow not permitted to live the life you want. Let rid of the opinion that you are unworthy of receiving that gift. Quit putting yourself down.
You have earned nothing except joy and satisfaction from life. The purpose of life is to take pleasure in it.
Yes, the thought of doing what makes you happy might indeed be downright terrifying. The human condition includes the experience of a wide range of extreme emotions, including dread. Fear, however, is something that exists only in your mind. What matters is your speculation about what could occur. The extreme feelings you experience due to your worries are not who you are.
In his book Conversations With God, Neale Donald Walsh explains that we have access to three forms of inspiration. Mind, speech, and deed make up the triad. Your identity is a compilation of your inner workings—your thoughts, words, and deeds.
What this raises is the question of who you wish to become.
Connect with the real you and take action toward becoming that person today. Get started doing what you love and enjoying life right now. It’s significantly less complicated than you may think. The “how” can be revealed surprisingly simply if inspiration leads the way.
Your muse will never steer you wrong. By visualizing yourself as you would like to be, you can motivate yourself to have the thoughts, say the words, and do the deeds necessary to make that self-image a reality. The more you are, the more you will do and the more you will have. The more you do what you love, the happier you’ll be. And so it goes in a never-ending loop that further solidifies your sense of self and passions.
Amazingly beautiful. It’s a form of independence.
So now is the moment to start moving toward the life you see for yourself. Get started immediately, creating your ideal life.
Start by deciding that you are going to enjoy where you are at this moment. Could you do it now?
